about

An angry, frustrated song about cis-sexism and transmisogyny, how their influence can be painfully felt even in spaces that proclaim their support for trans liberation, and how they're actively perpetuated by people claiming to fight capitalism, patriarchy, or to stand for 'LGB(T) rights'. About the queer truma of being disregarded, and about the increasing threats to our communities following the visibility we've finally gained. And a bit about how still, most of it's happened and been said before.

lyrics

Claim our fights, but only include us
When we're perfectly in line/with your binaristic liberation narratives
Claim our fights, yet act paralyzed
At the sight of the exact exclusion we've for decades decried

We finally started pushing back/While the dormant essentialism rears its ugly head
Now ya never know who the fuck to trust
The knives in our backs too heavy to see
If there's light coming up

Then you point at the fascists
That we protest
Who're open about their fucking hatred
Well, that's the handful of extremists
No we ain't the problem

But go on to
Police the shape of bodies and sexuality
Where norms prevail we'll never, ever be free
Where experience and identity
Are under constant scrutiny
As patriarchal categorizations run free
Discourses that keep coming back
Round with new ways of sounding progressive
But still the same cissexist urge to exclude
Those who don't belong nowhere

cause yea whatever, things take time
But that's no less terrifying
Looking at the various lifetimes already spent in struggle
The lives lost in the rubble
So I don't wanna hear your pseudo-feminist babble!!

We finally started pushing back
As the dormant essentialism rears its ugly head
Now ya never know who the fuck to trust
The knives in our backs too heavy to see
If there's light coming up

Cissies fightin' to keep their right
To kick us out when ever they like
Too feminine
Not feminine enough
Drawing lines in the sand
Universalize, Divide and separate
But there's no fucking debate
Ya ain't critical
Your just turds painted red, so
SHUT THE FUCK UP

Now some of these lines have been said a thousand times
So I keep coming back, asking if there's a point in me writing these rhymes
So I'll try my best to stand and fight in solidarity
With our most persecuted sibs, and all those downtrodden who might feel Some of these words
No pride without a riot, no pride with the police
Under the wings of the state, we'll never ever be free
Corporations vague declarations of diversity
Can go down the drain, we'll smash ur windows instead
Loot ur warehouses and set
Your officers ablaze

Cause there's no liberation
In assimilation
Let's be impatient
For destruction and creation

We finally started pushing back
As the dormant essentialism rears its ugly head
Now ya never know who the fuck to trust
The knives in our backs too heavy to see
If there's light coming up
